These are In The Dark’s rules and they should not be that hard to follow. Rules have been put in place to keep this site functioning smoothly and if broken there will be consequences. The consequences will vary by the severity of rule that has been broken and how it was broken.
General Rules
Be Kind
● This seems pretty simple and hopefully it can be. Sadly this no longer seems to be a common sense rule. Please remember that behind every computer screen there is a living person who has real emotions.
Respect Everyone
● No matter who it is whether it be guest or a staff member, everyone has the right to have fun, not to be put down by others.
No Discrimination
● If you’re not mature enough to understand everyone is different and not old enough to respect different religions then do not bother to sign up. This will be not tolerated and if caught you will be banned with absolutely no warning. Remember we all have feels and nobody is the same because we are not robots.
No Sexual Content
● Though this is a human role play the site is still rated PG-13 and not all members appreciate that type of content. Not only that but it is also a rule on Proboards. If anything suggest what they will do and fade out. Anything further will be modified.
Minimal Cussing
● Cussing will be allowed but this does not mean its fully encouraged. Remember that we have members and guest of all ages. Since this is a human role play there is no other forms to cuss. If you are caught swearing exclusively or targeting your curse words towards other members you will be warned. If your behavior continues you will be banned for a week.
Staff
● They’re here to better the site and help the site run smoothly, also to help you. Please respect them. Also don’t ask to become a staff member because we search for the potential in all members. Not only are we here to keep the site going but if you ever feel like you’re being bullied by a fellow forum, do not start a confrontation, PM a staff member and they’ll sort things out.
Fun
● This isn’t a rule you can get in trouble for and basically is just a simple suggestion. Why would you join a site if you’re not having fun? We’re here for you to have fun not to be miserable.
Role-Play Rules
Point of View
● A matter of role-players preference so they can either role-play in first person or third person.
Be Creative
● We don’t want thousands of blond hair, blue eyed people walking around the city. Since they are human beings you do have more leeway than if this was an animal role-play. Though you also have to remember that people are not born with blue hair or covered in pieces and tattoos, they are added later in life. The skin color should be natural and please try to limit the wacky hair colors.
Character Biographies
● The character application template can be used exactly or if you want to add your own bio you can, just make sure you still add all the required info from our own bio form.
A) Work in progress bios are the only exception and should have WIP in the title.
Super Powers
● You're character may use their super powers either for good or for bad. However all characters must have a weakness! This prevents characters from winning every battle and upsetting other members. Now super powers can be anything but your character is only allowed to have up to four powers, make sure all the powers are different but make sense together.
Character Limits
● There is none but that does not mean create 25 characters and post with two. Make as many characters that you can handle.
Word Count
● In The Dark does not have a set number of words that you must achieve per in character post. However we do look for at least 5 good sentences that way the person who replies afterward has something to work with.
Modify
● Such a wonderful button that prevents members from double posting! Who would have thought that button actually did something. Please do not double post because you can just modify your mistakes in your old post.
Power Playing
● Power Playing is when you take over someone's character in your post. This is frowned upon because you prevent the other role-player to decided what happens to their character.
